Just For Kids

Kids tell us that one of their favorite New Haven spots is the Peabody Natural History Museum with its famous dinosaur collection. The Connecticut Children's Museum in downtown has hands-on displays for kid. The Eli Whitney Museum is also a fun learning destination.The Shoreline Trolley Museum is in nearby East Haven with operating trolleys along the seashore.

Located on the Long Island Sound, New Haven provides fun opportunities to explore the sea and sound. Schooner, Inc. offers educational programs and sailing in Long Island Sound aboard the 91-foot wooden schooner, the Quinnipiac.

Connecticut’s only zoo, the Beardsley Zoo, is about 20 minutes from New Haven; it has a very good petting zoo as well as the usual assortment of larger animals.
