Pill Cam is a tiny video camera that can transmit full-color image data of the digestive tract and it’s as simple as swallowing a pill. Hear Martin Floch, MD, attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital and professor of digestive diseases at Yale University School of Medicine, as he explains how this new technology works, indications for use and what diseases it can diagnose or how it can assist in the management of the digestive tract.

In this presentation, you will learn about the many facets of diabetes, including how you can have a positive influence on your blood glucose, improve your overall health by choosing foods wisely, exercising regularly and reducing your stress level. Our panel of healthcare specialists includes: Ellen Liskov, M.P.H., registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and outpatient nutrition specialist, YNHH Shoreline Nutrition Center and Lillian Falko, advanced practice registered nurse, certified diabetes educator and clinical nurse specialist for Endocrine Associates.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in this country. Although exercise is critical to preventing heart disease, women say that they do not exercise because of their very busy lifestyle and demanding roles at home and in the workplace. Veronica Lee, MD, director of Yale Cardiology at Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center, will discuss the importance of exercise as a critical method of prevention for heart disease and improved well being and how to incorporate exercise into a busy day in enjoyable ways.

Retiring from work can provide more free time, so come learn the benefits of implementing physical and cognitive activities into your life for a healthful retirement. Join Lisa Walke, MD, attending physician, Dorothy Adler Geriatric Assessment Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital and assistant professor of medicine at Yale University School of Medicine, for an informative discussion on ways to attain and maintain a physically fit and healthy body and mind.
