Yale Diabetes Center Publishes Diabetes Guidelines

Dr. Silvio Inzucchi is committed to improving the quality of diabetes care. As an endocrinologist and director of the Yale Diabetes Center, he finds diabetes to be an increasingly complex disease to manage. "This is primarily because of the availability of new oral medications, insulin types and insulin delivery systems," Dr. Inzucchi explained. To assist providers in simplifying the management of the disease, he created and published the Yale Diabetes Center Diabetes Facts and Guidelines.

This pocket-sized booklet includes tips on outpatient and inpatient care, admission orders, screening methods, insulin dosing, new oral agents and nutrition therapy. "Originally, I geared the guidelines for students and residents. But we quickly learned that attending physicians found the booklet extremely helpful too," Inzucchi said.
