Patients with syncope and recurring falls often come to the
Yale-New Haven Hospital emergency department and are admitted to the
hospital. These admissions may not
always be necessary, and these patients may be better evaluated in an
ambulatory setting. For these reasons,
the sections of cardiology and geriatrics announce the initiation of two
evaluation centers to evaluate patients with syncope and falls. Patients who have transient loss of consciousness, without a
clear etiology, should be referred to the Syncope Evaluation
Center. This center will be staffed by cardiology and
will be held in the cardiology clinical space on the second floor of the Yale Physicians
Building. Patients who have recurring falls, but no loss of
consciousness, should be referred to the Falls Evaluation
Center in the Adler Geriatric
Assessment Center. Please send complete information on the problem to be
addressed, and on the patient's underlying medical conditions, to the
appropriate evaluation center.
