Outreach Anesthesiology
Outreach Anesthesiology is dedicated to providing anesthesia care to ambulatory surgical patients at Temple Surgical Center and Women's Surgical Center in New Haven and the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Surgical Center in Guilford. The anesthesiologists cover a combined total of eleven operating rooms plus 20-beds at the Temple Recovery Care Center (TRCC) which is in New Haven. Over 18,000 anesthetics have been provided throughout these facilities. The majority is performed on an outpatient basis but the more significant procedures are admitted to the TRCC for initial recovery care before transition to home.
Outreach anesthesiologists excel in a fast-paced environment providing care to a wide variety of patient age groups. They are expert at determining the suitability of patients cared for in an outpatient setting as well as identifying those patients who would benefit from admission to the TRCC. The surgical cases span the gamut of surgical specialties including: general surgery, gynecology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, orthopedic, plastic surgery, dental, urology and others.
The goal is always to provide patients with an anesthetic tailored to patient safety, patient co-morbidities and patient needs, with an emphasis on pain control and prevention of post operative nausea and vomiting. Whenever a patient has need for highly specialized anesthesia expertise - such as pediatric or significantly obese patients - that expertise is available from the larger Yale Anesthesiology practice.
