The Speech and Swallow Program at Yale accommodates adults and children of all ages with all forms of communication disorders including speech, language, voice, fluency and swallowing. Dr. Nwanmegha Young is the Director, specializing in the medical and surgical management of voice disorders. Among the therapies Dr. Youn uses are vocal chord microsurgery and injections of botulism toxin (Botox). Other staff includes Steven B. Leder, PhD, an internationally-recognized expert in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of swallowing disorders, and a team of certified speech-language pathologists.This program has long been recognized for the management of swallowing for disabled patients and providing voice restoration for patients who have undergone treatment of head and neck cancers.
