Bone Center

Established in 1987, the Yale Bone Center's team of clinicians, nurses, nutritionists and therapists is committed to providing state-of-the-art comprehensive care to adults and children with bone diseases and disturbances in calcium and phosphorus metabolism.

The Center cares for men, women and children through a multidisciplinary approach. Specialists and caregivers include endocrinologists, orthopaedists, physical therapists and nutritionists. Bone Center physicians are all faculty at the Yale School of Medicine with nationally recognized expertise in disorders of bone, calcium and phosphorus metabolism. A state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory aids in the treatment of patients with the most difficult disorders.

The Bone Center has a close working relationship with experienced physical therapists in New Haven, specifically trained in treating patients with skeletal disorders. The goal of physical therapy is to improve strength, maintain mobility and preserve independence. A dietitian with 20 years of experience in helping patients choose the correct diet for bone health is also available for individual consultation.

Bone density testing is offered by the center through our Bone Densitometry Unit, with appointments available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
