Yale Pediatric Infectious Diseases brings together a team of physicians with a wide range of expertise in various aspects of infectious disease. Faculty members are all accomplished in the diagnosis and management of general infectious disease problems. In addition, each faculty member is a globally recognized authority in certain specific problems in infectious diseases, including AIDS, viral diseases, respiratory infections, yeast infections, parasitology, nosocomial infections, host response to infection, and vaccines. Members of Pediatric Infectious Diseases consult on inpatients and also see outpatients in the Pediatric Specialty Center, in the Pediatric Immunology and Infectious Disease Clinic, in the Tuberculosis (Winchester) Clinic, and in the Clinic for International Adoptees. Section members are specialists in making recommendations for appropriate antimicrobial therapy, and in the selection and interpretation of specific diagnostic microbiologic tests. The Pediatric AIDS Program manages HIV-infected children as outpatients or inpatients.
