Yale Gynecologic Oncology brings together physicians whose focus is caring for women with gynecologic cancer. Faculty physicians are board certified in the subspecialty of gynecologic oncology, which unites the surgical and oncologic management of patients. The specialty is a key component of the Yale Cancer Center, which is the only NCI-designated center in southern New England. Specialty members play a vital role in bringing new modalities in diagnosing and treating these diseases into practice. For example, Yale offers the only program in the state for the early detection of ovarian cancer.

Cases are managed through weekly conferences with representation from disciplines such as oncology, therapeutic radiology, pathology and gynecologic oncology to ensure that the most beneficial course of action is developed. The specialty's resources are complemented with facilities dedicated to the care of patients with gynecologic cancer. A 28-bed inpatient unit, located in the West Pavilion of Yale-New Haven Hospital, and an outpatient treatment area are staffed with nurses who focus on caring for patients with gynecologic cancer.
