Cardiology

Yale Cardiology offers a complete array of specialists and subspecialists dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Each member is committed to clinical cardiologic care. Growth in the field has promoted further subspecialization, resulting in the following concentrations: congestive heart failure and cardiac transplantation, electrophysiology and cardiac arrhythmias, clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, noninvasive cardiology and preventive cardiology.

Special services offered by this section include:
  • Noninvasive testing, including Signal Averaged ECG and tilt table testing
  • Intracoronary ultrasound
  • Cardiac Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), nuclear cardiology and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) studies
  • Lipid-lowering trials and the Preventive Cardiology Clinic
  • Endomyocardial biopsy
  • Evaluation and management of congestive heart failure
  • Pacemaker placement and follow-up testing
  • Cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty
  • Electrophysiology evaluation
  • Radiofrequency ablation of cardiac arrhythmia
  • Implantation of defibrillators
  • Balloon angioplasty, coronary arthrectomy, laser angioplasty, angiography and stent placement
