Cardiac Anesthesiology

Yale Anesthesiology has a long tradition of excellence in the clinical care of cardiac surgical patients dating back to the development of the clinical application of pulmonary artery catheterization and transesophageal echocardiography. Today, Yale-New Haven Hospital is a busy pediatric and adult cardiac surgery center, with active catheterization, electrophysiology and surgical groups.

Many Anesthesiology faculty members are certified in echocardiography. With 12 faculty members trained in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), we are well equipped to provide intraoperative echocardiographic education for all cardiac surgical procedures.

Through a commitment to patient-focused care, cardiac anesthesia at Yale is one of the most advanced units of its kind in the New England area.
