49 of our doctors make New York magazine’s annual list

(June 2011) When you’re sick, you want the best possible care, and according to New York magazine’s 14th annual list of the region’s top doctors, 49 Yale Medical Group physicians are among the doctors you want to see.

New York’s Best Doctors issue, published in New York’s June 14 issue, is based on the annual guidebook to the New York metro area’s top doctors published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., an information and research company in New York City.

Castle Connolly comes up with a list of the top 10 percent of the area’s physicians, which this year came to more than 6,000. The firm conducted a peer-review survey of 12,000 physicians in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York City and Westchester County. It asked, among other things, who doctors would send their own family members to. It sought out doctors who are highly regarded for their professional qualifications and reputations, as well as listening and communication skills, empathy and ability to instill trust in confidence in patients.
